Since then, the widget has been a source of endless frustration for its users. Despite its promise to make your life easier, it has only made it more complicated. It’s like the gift that just keeps on taking!

Fortunately, Pinterest was aware of this issue and released a few newer versions of the widget to try and fix these issues. But unfortunately, it hasn’t been enough! It’s like it’s just refusing to work!

However, the users found several methods to fix the issue as well as a few methods to lose their old stuff.

How To Resolve Pinterest Widget Not Working Issue

Let’s take a look at some solutions for the Pinterest widget not working issue:

Method 1- Resolve Internet Connection Issues

This is one of the first methods that Pinterest recommended for its users. And for some users, this has actually worked. But for most folks, it didn’t work.

 Resolve Internet Connection Issues

Sometimes the internet connection can be to blame for the widget not working. Try resetting your router and modem, or switch to another network for a bit and see if that helps.

Method 2- Restart Your Device

Sometimes, the problem is with your device rather than the network. Restarting it can help a lot in that case. This is another recommendation pointed out by Pinterest.

However, once again, this may only work for some, so do not rely on this method solely. If the problem persists, you’ll need to look for another option.

Method 3- Enable “Background App Refresh” For Pinterest

If restarting your device does not help, you may need to enable “Background App Refresh” for the Pinterest app.

This is a feature that keeps the app running in the background, even when you’re not using it. This feature is an absolute must for the Pinterest widget to function optimally.

Most Pinterest Widget users reported that turning on this feature for the widget did the trick, but some had no luck.

Enable Background App Refresh For Pinterest

To enable this feature on your iPhone:

  • Go to “Settings”
  • Select “General”
  • Scroll down to the bottom and select “Background App Refresh.”
  • Select “Pinterest” under the list of apps

Although enabling this feature should help, it is not a guaranteed fix.

Method 4 – Update Your Pinterest App

For most Pinterest users, updating the app was the most obvious solution to widget problems.

After all, the app was probably not compatible with its latest version after a while, and this may have caused it to malfunction. So, if you haven’t updated the app in a while, we recommend doing so.

But ironically enough, just updating the app also isn’t a guarantee that it will work. So, don’t get your hopes up too high! It may not solve the problem, but hey, it’s worth a shot!

Method 5- Backup Your Phone To iCloud and Do A Factory Reset

If none of the other methods worked for you and the widget means much to you, you can always do a factory reset, but make sure to back up your device first!

But beware, this should be your last resort as it will delete all your data.

It’s a bit of a hassle, and you may have to go through the trouble of setting up your phone again, so proceed with caution! However, this seemed to work for some users.

What Not To Do

Now that you know the methods to fix this issue, let’s take a look at some things you shouldn’t do to fix this Pinterest widget not working issue. ❌

Delete and Reinstall Pinterest App

While some users suggested this fix, most users had issues with the widget after trying it.

Most Pinterest users complained that their widget history got deleted after uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

So, it’s best to avoid doing this if you don’t want to lose all your stuff saved to your widget.

Final Words

If all of these methods fail and you are certain that you are using a device with iOS 14 or newer version, then the only thing you can do is contact customer service and hope they handle your issue promptly.

Plus, don’t forget to check out the official forums and social media because you might find something new and relevant to your issue. Who knows, maybe some other user has already experienced the same issue, and they have posted a workaround. Good luck!
